Legend says that the Horned Frog became the official TCU mascot in 1887 after a group of our spiked friends showed up during the team’s first football practice.
The costumed mascot, Super Frog, made his debut sports appearance in 1979. Super Frog has since gone on to be name one of the Top 25 College Mascots by Sports Illustrated!
Horned lizards are a common motif in Native American art throughout the Southwestern US and Mexico, with some cultures regarding them as sacred.
